Custom Home Building Questions
Is a modular home really just a trailer?
A modular home is not in any way like a mobile home which were popular in the 70s. A modular home is built to be put on a foundation in a permanent location and differs from a site built home in that it is built inside.
Why would I choose a modular home over a site built home?
You will benefit from the highest quality of build and energy efficiency using the most up to date building methods in a climate-controlled factory with great attention to detail all at a very attractive price. The main difference is that these houses are built inside under the most ideal conditions and not exposed to the elements.
Can I customize my modular home?
Yes, absolutely. Every modular home is built to order. All models and floor plans are fully customizable. You can choose everything from floor plan modifications, windows, siding colour, shingle colour, flooring, appliances, kitchen cupboards, counter tops, bathroom fixtures, interior doors and trim, and many other choices. Well you get the picture—you are only limited by your imagination.
Are your modular homes expensive?
You will be pleasantly surprised when you make a cost comparison.
How long does it take from order to delivery?
It takes from six to eight weeks from order to delivery to your site.
What about installation?
Rockland Homes and Cottages is an Authorized Maple Leaf Homes retailer with a display lot and office, located just outside of Young’s Point, Ontario and we’ve completed many projects with great customer satisfaction.
As we are not acting as any form of contractor we can recommend and work with many quality suppliers for many of your needs, including: foundation, well, hydro, and septic. We also can recommend a great installation crew that has a proven track record for handling even the toughest installs.
So to reiterate, although we are not a contractor we will work with and assist in every facet of the installation as required.
So how complete is my modular home when it is delivered?
Everything is complete, right down to light fixtures. We will assist with the installation requirements. Then all you need to add is furniture.
Should I be concerned with the quality of your modular homes?
Actually you should be reassured by the quality of our modular homes. They are all built to meet or exceed the CSA Ontario A277 Certification Standard. This Standard certifies a building is in compliance with the Ontario Building Code. After all, a 2×6 is a 2×6, and drywall is drywall.
If we have our own floor plan picked out can you duplicate it?
We will most certainly work with you to accomplish this goal. If we can’t do it we will steer you in the direction of a company that can.
Do you have options for a narrow lot?
Yes. We offer single wide homes from 16 feet wide up to 76 feet long.
Can I finance a modular home?
Yes in most instances through a bank, credit union, or other financial institution. For more information contact us today.
